WILLIS BAPTIST CHURCH
The Gospel
Dear friend,
It is very important to God and to us that you have "Peace with God". That is, you having the assurance of knowing you will be with God for all of eternity.
Romans 5:1 says, "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:" Your eternal well-being depends upon making the right decision about this Spiritual matter.
The first thing you must understand is that the Bible teaches that in our natural, normal condition we are "sinners". Romans 3:23 states, "For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God." Who of us have never had an evil thought, word, or deed? Furthermore, we are born with a "sin nature", or a pre-disposition to sin. Romans 7:24 "O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?" And our chief sin is that of unbelief. We have not believed God's words.
The next thing you must understand is that God's holiness demands a penalty for sin. Romans 6:23 states, "The wages of sin is death." This death is not just a physical death, but more importantly a spiritual death. "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death", Revelation 21:8. Death means separation. Spiritual death means separation from God for all eternity!
Since we are all sinners by nature and by choice, we have a hopeless outlook for eternity if no solution was offered. Thankfully, that is not the end of it. There is hope!
The third thing you must understand is that the sinless Lord Jesus Christ, God in human flesh, paid the penalty of "spiritual death" for you and for me when He died on the cross of Calvary. Romans 5:6 tells us, "For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly." Romans 5:8 says, "But God commendeth His love for us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." God could not excuse your sin and mine, because His holiness demanded full payment. He paid the price for our sin by paying the penalty for us in the person of Jesus Christ!
And the Lord did not stay buried in his tomb, but after being dead for three days He arose and was seen by over 500 people. He lives forevermore, and His promises will too!
But, my friend, if you know about the first three steps and ignore the last, you are condemned to spend eternity in the place called Hell. It is not enough to know the facts of salvation. Anyone who has heard the truth knows them. You must act upon that knowledge by faith. "But without faith it is impossible to please him. . . ", Heb 11:6a.
The fourth fact that you must understand to have "Peace with God", is that you must receive the gift God offers to you By Faith! You cannot work for God's favor, and you cannot possibly be good enough to earn your way into heaven. "Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons" Acts 10:34. You must simply "Call" upon the Lord. To "Call" means to "cry out" for help. Romans 10:13 states, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." You must "cry out" to God for forgiveness of your sin, and He will forgive you for the penalty of your sin once and for all.
My dear friend, God has done everything He could do to help you to escape Hell, be saved and gain Heaven. Won't you receive His free offer of "Peace with God" today? You can know for certain your eternal destiny right now, if you will simply "call" upon the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved. Simply pray a prayer similar to this, with your whole heart, and God will hear you:
"Dear Lord, I know that I am a sinner deserving eternal punishment. I know that I cannot escape your judgment by my own efforts. I am asking you right now to forgive me of my sin, and take me to Heaven when I die. I want to have 'Peace with God'. Thank you for saving me, because it is by faith in Jesus Name that I ask it, Amen."
